Kristen Perron, Counseling Intern, Surprise Office & Online
I am pursuing a marriage and family therapy graduate from Abilene Christian University. With a concentration in adolescent and child therapy and a background in guidance counseling for culturally diverse students in the Phoenix public school district, my passionate goal is to help vulnerable children, couples, and families experience a safe and open environment for collaborative communication, self-expression, and connectedness, by building a strong therapeutic relationship with emotional and self-awareness. My foundational practice is to use strengths-based, solution-focused therapies to help promote personal and collective growth, validation, and acceptance. In strategically integrating cognitive behavioral and trauma-informed therapies with play therapy techniques, we will collaborate to help the child develop effective problem-solving and coping skills in processing trauma and challenging life experiences. Through strengthening child-parent interactions, compassion, and cohesivity, we will achieve our goals of forming healthy attachments and experiencing positive change.
